Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
Position rack in center of oven.
Step 3
Grease and flour a 9-by-5-inch or 8 ½-by 4 ½-inch loaf pan.
Step 4
In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and add nuts.
Step 5
In another bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 6
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Step 7
Blend in mashed bananas.
Step 8
Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately beating until batter is smooth.
Step 9
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Step 10
Bake in preheated oven 1 hour or until golden and tests done with a toothpick.
