Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large pot with some hot oil, brown the sausage slices, then remove the slices to a bowl. Add in more oil to your pot.

Step 2

Add in onions, jalapeno, celery, garlic, hot flakes and Italian seasoning, cook for around 3-4 minutes, stir with a large spoon for the full 3-4 minute time.

Step 3

Add in worcestershire sauce and the next five things. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook over low heat for 40-60 minutes or until vegetables are tender - keep close eye on the potatoes, make sure they don't get to mushy and soft

Step 4

After the vegetables are tender mix in ketchup and bell pepper, cook 12-15 minutes longer or until pepper is tender.

Step 5

Remove the bay leaf and throw it away.

Step 6

Combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into stew. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

Step 7

Add more salt and pepper.

Bergy

This stew has character -Spicy, peppy flavour that we loved. I used chili sauce instead of ketchup and cut back on the water. I didn't need the cornstarch. This is a do again recipe for sure
