Step by Step Method

Step 1

Put basmati rice in a bowl and cover with cold water and set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Rinse under cold water until water runs clear and drain well.

Step 3

Meanwhile combine pinch of saffron thread with boiling water in a small heatproof bowl and side aside.

Step 4

Put rice and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat and stir in saffron liquid.

Step 5

Cover and reduce heat to low and cook for 12 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed and then set aside for 2 minutes and then use a fork to fluff up rice and serve.

This was SO well received tonight... added a little bit of salt but otherwise cooked as directed. It was a great side alongside spicy burritos. And the saffron makes the rice such a beautiful color!

Thank you for sharing this lovely recipe. The saffron is very subtle in the rice. It was perfect served with hot and spicy chicken wings and salad. Quick and really easy to make. A perfect side to use with anything. Made FYC tag game.
