Step 1: Put basmati rice in a bowl and cover with cold water and set aside for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Rinse under cold water until water runs clear and drain well.
Step 3: Meanwhile combine pinch of saffron thread with boiling water in a small heatproof bowl and side aside.
Step 4: Put rice and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat and stir in saffron liquid.
Step 5: Cover and reduce heat to low and cook for 12 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed and then set aside for 2 minutes and then use a fork to fluff up rice and serve.
