New Jersey Sloppy Joe Sandwich
"The Lazy Gastronome. I bet when you hear “sloppy joe” you think of ground beef simmered in tomato sauce. But in New Jersey, a sloppy joe is an amazing double-decker sandwich made of deli meats! As the story goes, in the 1930s, Thomas Sweeney (a local politician), stopped in to a local deli after a visit to Cuba where he frequented a bar called Sloppy Joe’s. Sweeney asked the Town Hall Deli to cater his poker games with a similar sandwich to the one he enjoyed at Sloppy Joe’s – and the rest is history!"

Swiss cheese goes on next.
