Knock Your Socks Off Chicken

"Every time I make this I'm asked for the recipe. It's really a "get your socks knocked off" dish. Cooking time does not include marinating."

Step 1

Marinate chicken 2-3 hours in white wine, covered.

Step 2

Remove chicken and save marinade.

Step 3

Saute chicken in butter until golden brown.

Step 4

Remove chicken and set aside.

Step 5

Add onion and garlic to skillet. Saute 2 minutes, then sprinkle with flour. Cook and stir for 2 more minutes. Add the reserved marinade.

Step 6

Put chicken back in the skillet and add salt, pepper, paprika, basil and parsley.

Step 7

Cover and simmer 30-35 minutes.

Step 8

Remove chicken and place on a serving platter.

Step 9

Mix together half and half, egg yolk and 2-3 tablespoons sauce from the skillet.

Step 10

To skillet add the sliced mushrooms and the half and half mixture.

Step 11

Cook and stir to thicken sauce. Adjust seasoning to taste. Pour over chicken and serve.

Yes, indeed... it knocked our socks off! Like the other reviewers have mentioned - the sauce is so flavorful, but it's those mushrooms that steal the show! The chicken was equally flavorful, I would not have thought to marinate chicken in straight up wine... but it works! I made 4 skin-on, bone-in thighs and made the whole sauce recipe cuz DH likes his sauce! :-) Will definitely be making this again. I agree - this is "Best of 2021" material!

Classic flavors that turned out a moist and flavorful chicken. We had it with a side of rice and broccoli making for a great family dinner enjoyed by all. Loved all the mushrooms here and couldn’t stop picking at them. Thanks, Teresa, for sharing. Made it for FYC and Billboard Tag.

Delicious, moist, and tender chicken. The sauce was so delicious drizzled over thin noodles. We had a salad and rolls with it to complete our meal. We loved it, and I will make it again very soon!
