Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil grate. Or an oven to 400 and prepare a baking dish with aluminum foil

Step 2

Wash the wings well and pat dry with paper towel. Season the meat with cayenne, salt, and pepper.

Step 3

Cook the chicken wings on preheated grill until cooked through and juices run clear, 20 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the wings. Brush the wings liberally using 1/2 cup of honey while they are cooking.

Step 4

Melt the butter, pour into a large bowl and mix in the remaining 1/2 cup of honey and hot sauce. Remove the wings from the grill and immediately toss them in the hot honey butter sauce to coat. Serve the wings 'wet' or return them to the grill for 1 minute per side to set the sauce.

Great wings! I sprinkled liberally with the cayenne and loved the extra heat, and used Franks original as the hot sauce with the honey & butter. Fantastic STICKY wings, that I baked & basted for 20 minutes, then tossed with the sauce and threw on the grill with some burgers (4 minutes). Super good!

FANTASTIC!!!!!! We loved the sweet heat on these wings. I cooked them in the oven as instructed until cooked through, brushing with the honey every ten minutes. I then tossed them with the sauce and returned them to the oven to broil for 1 minute. They turned out awesome and the sauce stuck to the wings perfectly.

First of all I would like to say this recipe should be renamed to include Finger Licking Lip Smacking Good. I scaled back the recipe to half as my 4 V-Wings (no tips) weighed just over 1 pounds but for dietary reasons I cut the honey way back and that suited me as I prefer spicy to sweet and I also cooked them in the oven (as I don't BBQ/Grill), basting them with honey and then cooking for 20 minutes and then turning them and cook for a further 20 minutes before tossing them in the sauce and returning them to the oven for 5 minutes at 175C fan forced and the end result was finger licking lip smacking goodness. Oh would also suggest you have napkins and finger bowls ready too because no matter how much you lick there is still that stickiness to contend with.
