Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat sandwich press.

Step 2

Cut Turkish loaf in 4 even pieces and slit each through the centre to make 8 slices in total.

Step 3

Spread bases with pickles and top with the ham and cheese and finish with the remaining slice bread.

Step 4

Spray the outside of each sandwich, on both sides with the olive oil spray.

Step 5

Transfer to sandwich press and cook for about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden and crisp and cut each sandwich is half and serve.

Step 6

If you don't have a sandwich press, the sandwiches can easily be toasted under a hot grill or in a frying pan but will take about 20 minutes as you will have to toast each side where as the sandwich press toasts both sides at the same time.

I don't normally like ham, but DH got some smoked ham that I actually really liked, so I had to figure out what to do with it. That is when I found your recipe, and I knew with the addition of pickles that this would be a winner for me, and it was a great combination!
