Step by Step Method

Step 1

Whisk the first 5 ingredients together in a shallow bowl.

One at a time, add the bread slices, turning them until thoroughly saturated but not disintegrating.

Dust each slice with powdered sugar if desired.

Step 8

Serve with pure maple syrup or jelly of choice.
