Step by Step Method
Step 1
Mix butter mixture and set aside.
Step 2
In a large stock pot, saute onions in butter and oil until tender.

Add garlic.
Step 4
Add the tomato juice, broth, Lipton onion soup mix, lemon juice and parsley.
Step 5
Bring to a boil.
Step 6
Reduce heat.
Step 7
Simmer, uncovered, for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 8
Ladle soup into 10 ounce oven proof soup bowls.
Step 9
Top with garlic buttered French bread.
Step 10
Sprinkle with cheese mix.
Step 11
Broil 4-6 in. from the heat for 2-3 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
