Step by Step Method
Step 1
Cook Bacon in skillet until crispy, remove and set aside.
Step 2
If using fresh green beans precook in microwave or on stove top, set aside.
Step 3
Add onions and bell peppers to bacon gease in skillet saute until translucent.
Step 4
Add flour to skillet and stir to remove lumps and cook slightly (if your bacon does not leave enough grease you may have to add a couple of tablespoons of olive oil).
Step 5
Pour in tomatoes and adding in worcestershire sauce, ground mustard, brown sugar, salt and pepper mix well, bring to a simmer to cook out flour.
Step 6
Add bacon and green beans simmer until slightly thickened and flavors have blended.
Step 7
First time I made this I did not add the flour and it came out rather soupy but still good. I also cut back on the brown sugar as we do not like it as sweet and added some dried chiles. You could also swap out the worcestershire sauce with soy sauce for a different taste.
