  • Look for shrimp that is fresh and firm to the touch when selecting your ingredients.
  • If you are using chicken stock instead of white wine, look for one that is low in sodium.

  • Replace the white wine with chicken stock for a non-alcoholic option. This substitution provides a flavorful and savory broth that still allows the shrimp and other flavors to shine through.
  • Replace the cream cheese with Greek yogurt for a lighter and healthier option. The Greek yogurt provides the same creaminess as the cream cheese, but with fewer calories and fat.

Spicy Shrimp Scampi Dip Appetizer Increase the amount of red pepper flakes to 1 teaspoon, and add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Increase the amount of white wine to 1/2 cup and omit the chicken stock.

I actually make this for lunch and wrap it in Boston lettuce for a quick lunch. Low in carbs and lots of protein. Just what I need to keep my diabetes in control. Excellent!

Loved it atop oven toasted buttered bread rounds. I opted for the wine and it gave the dip a nice flavor along with the other ingredients! I am so happy I made this dip for the Super Bowl. I will make this again in the very near future, we liked it so much!

Worth more than 5 stars! Creamy and extra delicious dip that my family raves about every time I serve it. I put mine in the fridge for about 8 hours before serving so the flavors mix together good. At serving time I surround the bowl with pita chips, bread bites and celery sticks. Great on crusty bread slices too!

Fun facts:

Did you know that shrimp scampi is a classic Italian-American dish? It originated in the 1950s, when Italian immigrants brought the recipe to the United States. It has since become a popular dish in many countries.

The famous American chef, Julia Child, also had a version of this recipe in her cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She called it "Shrimp with Garlic Butter and Wine," and it is still a popular dish today.
