"My mother passed this recipe on to me and I'm passing it on to my daughter. The whole family loves this comfort food and it's a great use for leftover turkey! Depending on the amount of leftover turkey, I sometimes triple the recipe. Serve over a bed of rice or on it's own."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Saute mushrooms and set aside.

Step 2

In a large sauce pan, melt butter and add flour, whisking until thick.

Step 3

Gradually add milk while whisking until you get a thick sauce.

Step 4

Add all ingredients except mayonnaise and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Step 5

Add mayonnaise last and stir thoroughly.

Step 6

Season with salt & pepper to taste.

I had to double this to serve six people, everyone loved it so I'm saving it in my favorites I'll be making it again, I added in some garlic powder and used fresh mushrooms I would have used canned but I got a good deal on fresh :) anyway thanks again!

Thhis is really good and I had to butcher the recipe to fit in with a diet both weight and medical. I used 1 cup mushrooms, 1/8 cup plus a small drizle of olive oil for sauteing the mushrooms, I used 2 cups almond milk, 1/2 cup cooked chicken 1/8 cup mayonnaise. Other ingredients were the same. I am sure it did not get as thick as it was suppose to but I was happy it thickened as much as it did when I removed so much fat - thank you for a wonderful way for me to stick kinda to my diet - I am suppose to remove a lot I just cut way back on the ingredients that were bad for me.

This was very easy and very good, I mixed all ingredients then put into a baking pan and topped it with prepared mashed potato, I then browned them in the oven, since this is so easy tasty I will make again
