Step by Step Method
Step 1
Combine 1/3 of the sugar with the butter and salt in a large bowl.
Step 2
Blend the vanilla, 2 tablespoons of milk, and the remaining sugar into the mixture.
Step 3
Gradually stir in the remaining milk until desired spreading consistency is reached.
Step 4
To color, blend in about 8-10 drops of food coloring.
Step 5
This makes enough frosting for two 9"-round layer cakes. For a more generous supply of frosting, increase all of the ingredients by ¼.
