President Jackson liked buckwheat cornmeal pancakes they were yeast pancakes and set to rise overnight,he liked them with molasses ,I've gotten close some people made them with just water ,it probably was when their cow was dry ,mine has milk.its supposedly native American. Buckwheat came from Asia but the native Americans used our plants as well as their own"

Step 1

Pour boiling water over cornmeal

Let cool in stoneware crock or big bowl,its going to rise

Add yeast to the warm cornmeal mixture

Add sugar

Add milk and rest of water

Stir until smooth

Add buckwheat flour

Stir until smooth

Add salt stir

Put plate over crock so nothing can get in

Let rise overnight

Dont let get to warm

Before making pancakes, add baking soda most recipes call for a pinch

Ml you may need to add more water to pour out cakes

Cook on a pam sprayed heavily buttered skillet
