Step by Step Method

Step 1

Melt butter and olive oil in a medium skillet (over medium-high heat) until butter is foamy.

Step 2

Reduce heat to medium, add smashed garlic and cook until lightly browned. Remove garlic and discard.

Step 3

Add sprouts cut side down, cover, and cook without stirring on medium-low heat 10-15 minutes or until tender when pierced with a knife. The cut side of the sprouts should get nice and browned, with a nutty, buttery flavor enhanced by garlic.

Step 4

Top with freshly grated Parmesan and salt& pepper to taste.

Delicious! (But I put the garlic back in later.) I like it even better with a squeeze of lemon juice.

What a great recipe! Love my sprouts and this is such a wonderful way to prepare them... I loved using the (Optional) parmesan cheese on top. Great flavours with the garlic and butter, although you have to be careful with the browning to make sure they do not burn. Wonderful recipe for those dreaded hated sprouts, which I personally love!

I had them with scrambled hamburger, onions and peppers, and mashed potatoes on the side. Very satisfying and extra delicious!

Made this tonight using my frozen roasted garlic. We both loved the dish! I like that it's so basic, easy and healthy. Thanks.

I came across brussels sprouts for the first time and decided to try it. Settled on this recipe cause I love garlic. I have heard lots of people not liking brussels sprouts and I am one of them, only cause it has a slightly bitter aftertaste to me. However my dad loves them and this recipe, he said he can eat it every single day as a side dish to almost any meal so to me that definitely earns this recipe 5 stars. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful flavor and great looking sprouts. Right into my "do again" recipes. You have to be careful that your heat isn't too high or they will burn - A few of mine got very dark but they still tasted Mmmm Thanks Cheesehead for another lovely way to do Brussels Sprouts
