Bratwurst Casserole - Meal In One

" Even if you think that you don't like Sauerkraut you will love it after trying this recipe. This is an easy meal in one recipe. I said 5 bratwursts because that is what is usually in the kind that I buy but if there is six in your package so much the better. Cook your carrots and potatoes ahead of time so it is faster for you to put this casserole together. Serve with sweet Bavarian mustard."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Pre- cook your potatoes and carrots until they are just tender
Step 2
Put your brats in a skillet, prick them a few time, pour in the beer and simmer until the beer has evaporated.
Step 3
While you are cooking the brats enjoy the left over beer
Step 4
Finish browning the brats, place them in an oven proof dish large enough to accomodate all the ingredients
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet, medium heat, saute the onions until golden.
Step 6
Add kraut, chili flakes, brown sugar, paprika, season with salt and pepper. Mix well scrapping the brown bits from the bottom of the skillet
Step 7
Your kraut mixture should now be golden in colour
Step 8
Add your potatoes and carrots to the brats, cover with the kraut mixture, seal with foil
Step 9
Bake in 350 oven for 40 minutes Uncover and serve
