Editorial Notes

The ingredient tips, suggestions, variations, facts, questions and answers below are not edits to the original author's recipe. They are not meant to imply any change would improve the recipe. • When selecting the fish, make sure to choose a firm white fish with a mild flavor, such as orange roughy, red snapper, or tilapia.
  • To reduce the sodium content of the recipe, choose a low-sodium salsa and use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled.

  • Substitute orange roughy fish fillets with salmon fillets. This substitution will provide additional health benefits due to the high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon. Additionally, salmon is a more sustainable fish option than orange roughy.
  • Substitute the whole wheat or stoneground corn tortillas with lettuce wraps. This substitution will reduce the carbohydrates in the recipe while still providing a crunchy texture. Additionally, lettuce wraps are a great low-calorie alternative to tortillas.

Vegetarian Variation Substitute the fish with 1 pound of firm tofu, cut into cubes. Marinate the tofu in the same lime juice, paprika, salt, black pepper, and chili powder mixture for 30 minutes. Grill the tofu for 7 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Assemble the tacos as instructed.

Very tasty and healthy tacos. We used Cod and it worked great. We used the oven method to cook the fish. Followed the rest of the ingredients. We would definitely make these again.

Substituted sole fillets for orange roughy. They are a thin, mild, firm fish so they were a good substitute. Very tasty and well enjoyed!
