  • For best results, use fresh sliced bread.
  • You can use either flaked almonds or chopped almonds for the recipe.

  • Coconut milk instead of regular milk: Coconut milk provides a richer, creamier flavor and texture to the French toast that regular milk does not. It also adds a subtle hint of sweetness to the dish.
  • Hazelnuts instead of almond nuts: Hazelnuts have a milder flavor than almonds, which can be beneficial if you don't want the almond flavor to be too overpowering. They also provide a slightly nuttier flavor which can be a nice contrast to the sweetness of the dish.

Coconut Bear Claw French Toast Mix 1/4 cup of shredded coconut in the milk, almond extract, vanilla extract, and eggs mixture. Use coconut oil instead of butter when cooking the french toast. Top with a tablespoon of shredded coconut and a tablespoon of prepared butter.

Fruit Salad: A light and refreshing fruit salad is the perfect accompaniment to Bear Claw French Toast. The sweetness of the fruit will balance out the richness of the french toast and the crunch of the almonds. This easy-to-make dish is a great way to add some extra nutrition to your breakfast.

Maple-Glazed Bacon: Maple-glazed bacon is a delicious and savory side dish that pairs perfectly with Bear Claw French Toast. The sweetness of the maple syrup complements the richness of the french toast, while the smoky bacon adds a delicious crunch. This quick and easy dish is sure to be a hit at your next breakfast gathering.

FAQ

Q: What type of bread should I use?

A: For this recipe, it is best to use sliced white bread. You can also use other types of bread such as brioche, challah, or French bread. Make sure to cut the slices into slightly thinner slices so they cook evenly.

Q: How long should I cook the toast?

A: The cooking time will depend on the type of bread and the desired level of toastiness. For white bread, cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. For denser breads, such as brioche, challah, or French bread, you may need to cook for a few minutes longer. Keep an eye on the toast as it cooks and adjust the cooking time accordingly.

This is one of the best French Toast recipes I've ever made. It was good enough as written (needs no sugary syrups, honey or other sweeteners to boost its flavor), because the almond butter is superb and gave the French Toast such a ice glossy, moist finish. And the almonds added a nice crunch in contrast to the soft and fluffy texture of the toast. I used plain white sandwich bread to make this recipe, and that worked out just fine. But I want to try this recipe again using a better quality bread like maybe a thick sliced sourdough or perhaps an artisan Brioche. It's hard to think this recipe could be improved upon though. It's so good. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Thanks, Dee. Made for the Best of 2021 tag game.

The French toast recipe was first created by the Roman Empire and was known as "aliter dulcia", which means "another sweet dish". This recipe was later adapted in the United States and is now a popular breakfast dish.
