"Either chicken or thick-cut pork chops will work great for this recipe. Depending on what chicken pieces you use cooking time may need to be adjusted slightly with bone-in skin-on chicken breasts and thick-cut pork chops taking the longest to cook, skinless boneless breasts the least time. If you don't have chunky applesauce you can finely dice one large apple"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season skin side of chicken with salt and pepper. Add to the skillet and brown on both sides (about (3 minutes per side). Transfer skin-side up into baking dish.
Step 3
In a bowl combine the BBQ sauce with all remaining ingredients (depending on how sweet your BBQ sauce is I recommend starting with 1-2 tablespoons of brown sugar then adding in more to taste). Pour sauce over the chicken pieces turing the pieces to coat in the sauce (chicken should be skin-side up before baking).
Step 4
Bake uncovered for about 40-50 minutes or until tender and cooked through (cooking time will vary for different chicken pieces or for pork chops.
