I made this recipe as written (although Pat did tell me to use some extra milk). I made the mix and had to let it sit for a while due to a phone call, and when I got back to it and saw the extra juices from the apple in the mix, I did think that the juices would suffice! But as usual Pat was right, I should have heeded Pat's advice. The slice did end up a little crumbly, although all was fine ~ as I was serving for dessert! I served it warm with some home made passion fruit ice-cream, and the family loved it. It was crumbly ~ but as a dessert it was really good ~ so if you are making this to use as a slice take heed to Pat's advice and add some milk! The oven timing was perfect and this worked for me as a dessert, and was just perfect served warm with ice-cream. I suppose when it comes down to it ~ this recipe is a little versatile, so in the end its up to the chef! Extra note: I forgot to add that I did add some sultana's to the mix with the apple, which was a really nice addition.
