Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Grease a 8 inch square baking dish.

Step 3

In a bowl combine the apples, brown sugar and lemon peel. Transfer to baking dish, spreading evenly.

Step 4

Sprinkle with lemon juice.

Step 5

In a mixing bowl beat the butter with sugar until smooth and creamy. Beat in egg, flour and baking powder; beating after each addition.

Step 6

Drop batter by spoonfuls over the apples, spreading evenly.

Step 7

Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden.

Step 8

Serve warm. (We like it with whipped cream or ice cream)
