The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups sliced apples (peeled)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon (juiced and grated peel)
  • 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease a 8 inch square baking dish.

  • Step 3: In a bowl combine the apples, brown sugar and lemon peel. Transfer to baking dish, spreading evenly.

  • Step 4: Sprinkle with lemon juice.

  • Step 5: In a mixing bowl beat the butter with sugar until smooth and creamy. Beat in egg, flour and baking powder; beating after each addition.

  • Step 6: Drop batter by spoonfuls over the apples, spreading evenly.

  • Step 7: Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden.

  • Step 8: Serve warm. (We like it with whipped cream or ice cream)
