Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large bowl, gradually beat sugar into softened butter with an electric mixer, beating until mixture is well blended.

Step 2

Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 3

Combine flour and salt.

Step 4

Gradually beat flour mixture into butter mixture.

Step 5

Beat in buttermilk until mixture is well blended.

Step 6

Pour into the Pastry for Single-Crust Pie.

Step 7

Sprinkle pecans over the filling in piecrust.

Step 8

Bake in a 300 degree F oven for 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes or until the buttermilk filling is set.

Step 9

Cool. Store pie in the refrigerator.

Wow this is good! I made a gluten free crust from almond and coconut flour and butter which filled a 9 inch pan. And I reduced the sugar to 1 cup which still is plenty sweet for us, we're not used to really very sweet stuff LOL I'm pretty sure I'll make this again because it's so easy to put together and so gooey yummy!
