Step 1: In a large bowl, gradually beat sugar into softened butter with an electric mixer, beating until mixture is well blended.
Step 2: Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 3: Combine flour and salt.
Step 4: Gradually beat flour mixture into butter mixture.
Step 5: Beat in buttermilk until mixture is well blended.
Step 6: Pour into the Pastry for Single-Crust Pie.
Step 7: Sprinkle pecans over the filling in piecrust.
Step 8: Bake in a 300 degree F oven for 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes or until the buttermilk filling is set.
Step 9: Cool. Store pie in the refrigerator.
