"I made this several years ago, and these apples made for a pretty and tasty dessert. This is a very old recipe, which I forgot I had, I will be making this again now I have found it. When I made this years ago, I served with a side of home made apple ice-cream, which really went down well."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Firstly prepare the stuffing place the mashed bananas in a bowl with the sugar and then crumble in 4 of the toast biscuits. Add the honey and rum and mix really well.

Step 2

Peel the apples and remove the cores, leaving the apple whole. Brush the inside apples with just a little of the butter and fill them with the stuffing.

Step 3

Crumble the rest of the toasts and mix with the coconut. Brush the outside of the apples with a little more butter and cover/coat or roll the apples in the toast/coconut mixture.

Step 4

Brush a deep baking pan with the remainder of the butter. Put in the apples, close together. Pour in 2-3 tablespoons of water with the wine and put in a moderate oven 180c for 30 minutes, or until the apples are cooked.

Step 5

Tope each apple with a teaspoon of jam/jelly and cool just slightly before serving.

Step 6

Serve with ice-cream if desired.
