"My sister always made this for every family get-together, and now I make it all the time as comfort food. You can use french-fried onions in place of potato chips if you'd rather, but definitely use something crunchy on top. I've also been known to melt additional cheese on top, or add about a cup of crumbled bacon."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350F; grease a 9x13-inch glass casserole dish.

Step 2

Mix all ingredients except potato chips together in a large bowl; smooth into prepared casserole dish.

Step 3

Bake, uncovered, for one hour. Top with crushed potato chips and bake an additional 5 minutes.

We quite enjoyed this, I found it very easy to throw togther and made a tasty side dish, I reduced the butter to 1/4 of a cup and used low-fat sour cream, great recipe, thanks!
