Step by Step Method

Grease loaf pan
Step 2
In large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water
Step 3
Add buttermilk, 2 1/2 cups of the flour, shortening, sugar, salt, baking powder and mix until well mixed

Add remaining flour and oats, mix well. Dough should still be slightly sticky and soft
Step 5
Turn dough onto well floured surface and knead 5 min
Step 6
Roll dough into a rectangle, 18x9
Step 7
Roll up dough into a log, beginning at short end, press each end to seal and fold under loaf
Step 8
Place loaf in loaf pan, seam side down and brush with butter
Step 9
Let rise until double
Step 10
Preheat oven to 425F and bake 30-35 minutes or until golden
Step 11
Brush with butter and let cool
