Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a bowl place the bitter orange juice, allspice, salt and pepper and mix to combine. Stir in the red onion and the bay leaves.
Step 2
Char or broil the banana pepper (or whichever chile you choose) under the broiler -- 3-10 minutes.
Step 3
Add pepper to the onion mixture and toss.
Step 4
Let marinate at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours before serving.
Step 5
