Yummy comfort food! Used day old baguette and craisins instead of raisins. I took Lynn's suggestions and browned the thinly sliced bread in batches (1/3 recipe), then used more butter to saute the apples, craisins and sugar, then tossed in the bread. I just loved how nice and crispy some of the bread was, and how some of the apples caramelized. Delish, Mike!

I made this for my breakfast this morning. I cut back the recipe for just myself. I used granny smith apples, two day old French Bread and raisins. I wasn't really sure what it meant to slice the bread thin, so mine were very thin round slices of bread, but now, feel that I probably should have made it more like the shape of shredded hash browns. My bread was two-day stale bread so it totally absorbed the butter, but toasted/browned up nicely. Next time I would slice it as stated above, brown the bread and then remove it while I add more butter and the sugar, raisins and apples. Then replace the toast/bread on top and cover it for the 10 mins or so. The end result, no matter how you make it, is delicious!!! I topped mine with some whipped topping and then sprinkled the cinnamon and sugar over it all. Thanks for sharing a fun new breakfast/dessert. Made for Culinary Quest 2015.
