"I love mushroom burgers and this is a simple and basic recipe. Most mushroom burgers use Swiss cheese......but I love them with Monterey Jack for a little bit of a kick."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

Step 2

Meanwhile, melt butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add mushrooms. Cook over medium heat until mushrooms are lightly browned (5 to 8 minutes). Remove from heat. Keep warm.

Step 3

Shape ground beef into 4 (3/4-inch thick) patties.

Step 4

Place patties on grill. Grill, turning once, until cooked through (15 to 18 minutes).

Step 5

To serve, spread 1 tablespoon mustard on cut-sides of bun. Place 1 burger on bottom half of bun; top with 1/4 of the mushrooms, 1 slice cheese and top half of bun. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

I love a mushroom burger! I did add some black pepper to my mushrooms. Then I grilled my burgers, topped with cheese to melt, loaded it up with mushrooms and then topped with another piece of cheese to hold them in place! Delicious!!

The hubby loves mushroom swiss burgers so I used swiss cheese. Had half a pound of bacon that needed to be used so cooked it up and added to the burger. I didnt tell him about the dijon mustard and he never noticed it was on the bun. He even packed a couple burgers to take to work for his supper. I will be making these often for him. Thanks for sharing Vic! Made and reviewed for the What's On The Menu tag game.

Delish, easy tasty burger that will be made again. I cross chopped the sliced mushrooms so more would stay on the burger

I made as posted for the hubby...he loved it...I was surprised he didn't want to add another sauce to the burger...but he said it was great as is...I used pepper jack cheese and served it with a side of onion rings like Chef Potpie...I did toast the bun...made for "What's on the Menu" tag game...

Burgers with mushrooms and cheese? What could ever be wrong about it? We love it. We added some burger sauce and we used pepper jack cheese. They were great!
