"This is how mom makes it. I add 6 ounces of mushrooms, but my mom didn't because she hates mushrooms. We also used the dreaded green can (Parmesan). lol It was always served with salad and garlic bread, if we were flush, bread and margarine when we weren't."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat skillet. Put in salt.

Step 2

Add ground beef then brown, make crumbles fine not chunky (drain if too greasy).

Step 3

Add in the onion, cook with beef rest of way until translucent.

Step 4

Add garlic then spices and spaghetti sauce; cook until thick.

Step 5

Add drained cooked noodles to sauce; cook a few minutes more, toss so noodles are coated.

Step 6

Top with Parmesan cheese then toss.

This tastes a lot like what my mom made growing up... I love how fast it comes together for a quick and DELICIOUS weeknight meal. I doubled the recipe and we have plenty of leftovers for a quick lunch later this week. Made exactly as directed, and I wouldn't change a thing. Made for Billboard Tag in the forums.

I chose this recipe because it looked almost exactly like how my mom used to make her spaghetti. The only difference is that she added mushrooms. I love mushrooms but not in spaghetti so I always picked them out. This fit the bill for an easy and comforting recipe which was very needed. Thank you!

Like Mikekey said...this is the way my Mom made her spaghetti...she always added a touch of sugar...and used garlic powder...I don't think my Mother used fresh vegetables...she was a can lady...this brought back memories...mushrooms were added along with fresh grated Parmesan...made for "FYC" tag game...

This is exactly like my mom made back in the 50s and 60s except we only had that awful parmesan in the green can. I used fresh. I also added a small can of mushrooms, because I like mushrooms. :)
