"They only serve the teriyaki Burger in Japan, and it's supposed to be awesome. My youngest son loves all things teriyaki so here we go. They used cream instead of milk. And I think you could just thicken up teriyaki sauce with corn starch and ketchup, would be easier."

Step by Step Method

Lemon Mayonnaise & Teriyaki Sauce

Step 1

Mix all the Lemon Mayonnaise ingredients in a small bowl.

Step 2

Add all the Teriyaki Sauce ingredients, excluding cornstarch mixture, to a saucepan and bring it to a boil.

Step 3

Add the corn starch and water and quickly mix.

Step 4

When the sauce starts boiling again and thickens, turn the heat off.

Step 5

Or just put 6 tablespoons teriyaki sauce whisked with cornstarch mixture and the 2 teaspoons ketchup on the heat until thickened, whisking as it cooks.

Pork Patties

Step 6

Put all the Pork Patties ingredients except oil in a bowl.

Step 7

Mix well until the mixture becomes sticky.

Step 8

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and make flat round patties.

Step 9

Heat a large frying pan with the oil over medium heat.

Step 10

Place the patties in the pan and cook for about 4 minutes.

Step 11

Turn them over and cook further 4 minutes or so until clear juice comes out of the patties.

Step 12

Transfer the patties to a plate.

Step 13

While cooking patties, toast buns on a skillet.

Step 14

Place the bottom part of a bun on a sheet of baking paper.

Step 15

Dunk a pork patty with a fork in the warm Teriyaki Sauce, flipping over then place it on the bun.

Step 16

Place 1 of the lettuce leaves on the patty, then spread 1/4 of the Lemon Mayonnaise over the lettuce.

Step 17

Place the top half of the bun on.

Step 18

Repeat for the rest of the buns.

Winner, winner, ground pork dinner! I loved, loved, loved these burgers! The slight crunch on the outer burger layer (maybe I over-browned mine but it was divine that way), the flavor of that teriyaki sauce and lemon mayo combo. So good! Into my Best of 2023 file it goes. Thank you!

Wow, they know what they're doing over at Mc'D's Japan. These were different but tasty and a great alternative. The sauces were superb. I did play around with the Lemon Mayonnaise by increasing the lemon juice, added lemon zest, a pinch of salt and pepper was also added to bring out the flavor. Also, added a bit more milk bit by bit until desired consistency was achieved. Thank you, Dee, for sharing. Made it for The AmaZ'ing Race 2023 - Japan leg and What's on the Menu tag games.
