Step by Step Method
Step 1
Peel and dice yam; steam until almost tender; set aside.
Step 2
Heat butter in large skillet.
Step 3
Add onion and cook until translucent.
Step 4
Stir remaining ingredients (including the cooked yam) and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes or until the yam is cooked through.
Step 5
Garnish with yogurt or sour cream.
Step 6
Serve as is or over basmati rice.
