"My friend Ida shared this recipe with me. These are her comments: "I served this dip in a rosemary and olive oil bread bowl. I toasted the bits of bread from the center, and served them along side. This was so good!" Ida "

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, onion, lemon, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay Seasoning, mayonnaise, crabmeat, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Step 3

If cream cheese is still too hard, place all ingredients into a bowl, and use a mixer, on low speed, to combine.

Step 4

Spread mixture into a 1 quart baking dish.

Step 5

Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven.

Step 6

While the dip is baking, cut a circle in the top of the bread, and scoop out the inside, to create a bread bowl.

Step 7

Tear the removed bread into pieces for dipping.

Step 8

Remove baked crab dip from the oven, and stir well.

Step 9

Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out loaf.

Step 10

Place bread bowl and chunks of bread on a medium baking sheet, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Step 11

Serve hot.

I wanted to try this before going through the trouble of making a bread bowl. I tend to compare all Maryland crab recipes to my family's recipes ( 4 generations lived on the eastern shore year round )and to my friends who still live there. This recipe is good in comparison , but does not hit home. I will keep it around as an alternative recipe. Thanks for posting.
