"Very expensive to buy but very cheap to make in comparison. This recipe is when you use the beans of the pod and have the rest over, don't toss it use it to make vanilla sugar. Yields 1 cup"

Step 1

Put sugar into a jar and then put in the vanilla pod and leave to develop for a week or two, as you use the sugar you can add more and can also add more vanilla beans removing the old one if it has dried up and therefore lost its flavour.
