Step 1
Peel pears and cut into quarters and remove and discard cores and then cut into 3cm pieces.
Step 2
Combine sugar and 2 tablespoons water in a large saucepan and stir over a medium heat until sugar is dissolved and thedn bring to boil and add the pears and cover with lid and simmer for about 8 minutes, or until pears are just tender and remove.
Step 3
Transfer pears to a large, shallow, ovenproof dish (8-cup capacity.
Step 4
To make topping, lightly crush Corn Flakes with your hands and place in a bowl with oats, coconut and cinnamon.
Step 5
Combine butter, sugar and honey in a small saucepan over a low heat and stir until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted and bring to boil and boil for 1 minute and then remove from hea and pour over Corn Flake mixture and mix well and sprinkle over the pears.
Step 6
Cook in a moderate oven (180C) for about 15 minutes, or until topping is crisp and golden brown.
Step 7
Serve hot with double cream.
Tips & Variations
- If you’re short on time, replace fresh pears with an 825 gram can of pears, sliced in natural juice.
- Drain and arrange over base of the ovenproof dish.
