"These are tasty cookies but they spread around considerably while baking. Leaving ample space between them should prevent them from running into each other."
Preheat oven to 375'.
Sift brown sugar.
Beat butter till soft and gradually add to the brown sugar.
Blend until very light and creamy.
Beat in the egg and the coffee.
Resift the flour with the cinnamon, cloves, and soda.
Add the sifted ingredients to the butter mixture.
Beat batter until smooth.
Stir in the raisins and nuts.
Drop batter from a teaspoon onto a greased sheet, leaving enough space between cookies for expansion.
Bake about 15 minutes at 375.
Let cool on wire rack.
