Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350-degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Crush vanilla wafers in a large sealable bag with a rolling pin; set aside.

Step 3

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla wafers, coconut and nuts. Pour into well greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until tester inserted in cake come out clean.

NOTE: For a more formal presentation, this recipe may be doubled for a layer cake and baked in three 9" round pans; then frosted in-between layers and outer cake (of course, the frosting would also need to be increased, accordingly.)
