Step 1

Brown beef, onion, garlic and salt (add a little oil if you find you need it - I normally don't)

Step 2

Add noddles.

Step 3

Combine tomato juice/V-8 juice, Worchestershire sauce, celery salt, salt, pepper, broth and water in a bowl and stir. Pour mixture over beef and noodles.

Stir in mushrooms and sour cream and heat through. Serve.

Wonderful flavour - real comfort food. I did a couple of things differently. I used Tofu Fettuccine and it cooks in 2 minutes -it cannot be cooked longer. So I added it just before serving. Because the pasta was not being cooked in the sauce I omitted the water and cut back a bit on the tomato juice. Lastly I subbed cottage cheese for the sour cream - it works beautifully. Bobbie I love you recipe I hope you don't mind the changes I made. It really still remained your tasty easy recipe

Bobbie this is so good and love that it is one skillet and your done. I didnt have medium egg noodles just the large broad noodles and was worried about them cooking all the way. No problem with that! Smelled so good while cooking and no need to buy those box dinners anymore. Did forget the sour cream at the end but we still enjoyed our supper. Have some leftovers so will add the sour cream to that when reheating. Keep sharing your recipes with us!

Comfort food at its best - the family did gobble this up! The aroma of this simmering on the stove brought my busy teens to the kitchen and kept them there for a fun family supper. I have slowly been collecting recipes for delicious "skillet" meals over the years - and this one will replace the one I had for a quick goulash-type dish. What is more, its bright flavors and creamy texture certainly beats any box mix hands down. I used low-salt V8 and beef broth and did not add additional salt (my dietary needs - and the kids didn't miss it). I also used fresh mushrooms, sauteing them with the onions, (again because of salt). Thanks Bobbie - your recipes always please.
