"Old Betty crocker ad. Zaza I think it came off a crisco can.im changing how they mixed the ingredients, they didn't cream the shortening, they mixed with milk,I know ,crazy.use fresh orange juice icing I'm posting next for this"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cream sugar and crisco

Add eggs

Sift flour and salt and baking powder

Add to sugar mixture

Alternately with milk and vanilla

Beat in dates and then nuts they were mixing by hand but I have mixer,and I'm using it lol

Pour into two 8 inch round cake pans that you have greased and floured

Bake 35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean

Step 10

Cool and frost
