Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs (it called for 1/2 cup eggs)
- 1 cup pitted dates (chopped)
- 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 2: Cream sugar and crisco

Step 3: Add eggs

Step 4: Sift flour and salt and baking powder

Step 5: Add to sugar mixture

Step 6: Alternately with milk and vanilla

Step 7: Beat in dates and then nuts they were mixing by hand but I have mixer,and I'm using it lol

Step 8: Pour into two 8 inch round cake pans that you have greased and floured

Step 9: Bake 35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean

Step 10: Cool and frost
