"A nice variation of mashed potatoes that goes with their meatloaf. They use Yukon gold and they do use real potatoes there. They probably have the milk mixture made up and use in the mixing bowl as needed"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water.
Step 2
Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover the pot.
Step 3
Simmer for 30 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
Step 4
In a separate pot simmer milk and butter together, until butter has melted.
Step 5
Set aside
Step 6
Drain the potato saving 1/2 cup potato water
Step 7
Mash the potatoes with electric mixer .
Step 8
Gradually add the milk mixture into the mashed potatoes, enough to bind the mashed potatoes.
Step 9
Adjust as necessary if needed add some potato water
Step 10
Add the garlic powder and season to taste with salt and pepper to taste.
