"This is a grain free dog recipe, but it definitely doesn't have to be. The flour could be replaced with all purpose if you wanted and you could use any kind of oil. This is adapted from lolathepitty.com"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Stir everything together in a large bowl until it's well mixed.

Step 3

Sprinkle some flour onto a flat surface. Put the mixture on it and roll with a rolling pin until it's a 1/4 inch thick. If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a drinking glass.

Step 4

Spray or grease a cookie sheet.

Step 5

Use cookie cutters to cut out the dog biscuits into whatever shapes you prefer. Place them on the cookie sheet. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until they are a golden brown color. Make them as crispy as you prefer. Some pooches have better teeth than others.

Osa, our Rottie, agrees with all the previous reviews! Paws up, tail wagging, and boy, Rottweilers sure do drool a lot! She's a big girl, so the cookie cutter was about 3 inches wide. So this didn't make very many. I used them to lure her inside for the night, so will be ordering a smaller bone shaped cutter soon so my yield is better. I'll also add that these little gems tasted pretty good for humans too. Not that Osa was amused by that at all... Thanks for sharing this healthy treat for our pretty girl!

This received 4 paws up and 1 tail wagging...that makes this 5 stars in our little Britney's life...she loves when she gets homemade cookies...and takes them to her hiding place to enjoy...I used all purpose flour and made exactly 25 cookies...2 bone shapes...2 squirrel shapes...2 fire hydrant shapes...the rest were in small circles...made for "Players Faavorites" ...tag game...

Otis, our black Lab, loves apples (he begs when we eat one, until we give him a piece), so he liked these treats very much. I used a small 1" round cutter and baked them crunchy. Easy recipe and liked using rice flour to make them grain free.

KATO BABY

The cookies smelled good while baking. I made bones and fox heads for the dogs and a few cardinals for the cats. They both loved these. Made as written but used all purpose flour, unpeeled apple and ginger, and coconut oil. Thanks for sharing.

They loved them!! Normally my dog cookies have peanut butter or some type of meat baby food, but I was so surprised by how much they liked the apple ginger flavor. They are on a low fat diet (13 years old now) and this was perfect for them. Thanks for sharing.....made for FYC tag game.
