  • For the best flavor, use fresh apricots for the topping.
  • When separating the eggs, take care not to get any yolk in the whites, as this will prevent them from whipping properly.

  • Substitute apple butter for apricot jam: This substitution will add a unique flavor to the waffles, as well as a more subtle sweetness. The apple butter will also provide a richer texture to the topping.
  • Substitute almond milk for buttermilk: Almond milk is a great alternative to buttermilk for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan. It also adds a nutty flavor to the waffles and will help make them lighter and fluffier.

Apple Butter Waffles Substitute the apricot jam with apple butter and omit the diced apricots and lemon juice. Heat the apple butter in the microwave until just warm and stir into the whipped cream. Top the waffles with this mixture.

German Apple Pancakes - These fluffy pancakes are a great accompaniment to the German Apricot Buttermilk Waffles. They are made with apples, eggs, flour, sugar, and butter, and they are incredibly delicious. The sweetness of the apples and the richness of the butter make them the perfect side dish to the waffles.

German Potato Salad - This traditional German side dish is made with potatoes, bacon, onions, and a tangy dressing. It's the perfect complement to the German Apple Pancakes, as the potatoes provide a nice contrast to the sweetness of the apples. The bacon and onions add flavor and texture, while the dressing adds a nice tangy finish.
