"Living in Iceland & finding ways to overcome the fact you cannot rely on convenience food items you took for granted in the US means that you turn your attention to copycat recipes. It almost goes without saying that a Google search brought up several options for me, but this Taste of Home recipe from 2002 was at the top of the list. The recipe yield was 1 1/2 cups, but I felt I would routinely need a smaller amt. So I opted to half the TOH recipe for my copycat version & enter it here for my future cooking needs. ENJOY!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter & herbs until well-blended.

NOTE: This is best when made a day ahead & refrigerated overnight

NOTE RE PIC: I made this today (5/16) to use in a recipe tomorrow & it is so good that I wanted to eat it w/a spoon. FYI: I used all dry herbs (including the parsley) & 4 med-sized cloves of roasted garlic (love using it & never let myself run out of my supply)

Superb! I made this in the morning for our New Year's Eve late night table. I could slather this on anything and it would be wonderful. This is a keeper for sure. Thanks for sharing TwisSis!

I took your suggestion of using roasted garlic (and the amount you used), and it imparted a nice flavor. You are right, tasty as soon as you make it up, but I was surprised just how much more it improved after sitting overnight. And yes, I could also eat this just plain with a spoon. It went well on bagels and as a dip for crudités.

Yum! What a delicious recipe! I used roasted garlic and let the spread chill all day before setting it out with a crudite and cracker tray for movie night. This was delightfully garlicky- vampires beware- but we couldn't get enough. The recipe goes onto my Best of 2016 list. Thank you for sharing the recipe!
