"Recipe taken from the back of a card received from my local grocery. Posting as the season for fried green tomatoes is upon us. "

Step 1

Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a shallow dish combine cornmeal, flour, garlic salt, cayenne and black pepper, salt.

Step 3

Place buttermilk in another shallow dish.

Step 4

Dip tomatoes in buttermilk, then in cornmeal mixture to coat.

Step 5

In a large skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add coated tomatoe slices and cook about 2 minutes per side or until golden.

Step 6

Drain on paper towels.

Step 7

Serve warm.

This recipe was made on 4/16 for my lunch.And since it was just me,only half the recipe was made. Other than cutting the recipe in half,it was made as written.When frying,the coating stayed on the tomato slices quite well. After tasting,I felt like I should have kept the full amount of seasonings. Other than that the tomatoes had some very nice flavor to them. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling :) "
