- For the best results, use a good quality milk or dark chocolate.
- Flaked almonds can be substituted with any other type of nut.
- Substitute almond butter for almonds: The almond butter will provide the same nutty flavor, but it won't require the extra step of coating the sandwiches in the almonds. This will save time and make the recipe easier to prepare.
- Substitute maple syrup for chocolate: Maple syrup will add a sweet flavor to the French toast, and will also pair nicely with the almond butter. Plus, it's a healthier alternative to the chocolate.
Nutella French Toast Replace the chocolate and almonds with Nutella. Spread the Nutella over the two slices of bread before sandwiching them together. Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden.
Mixed Fruit Salad: A light and refreshing fruit salad is the perfect accompaniment to the decadent French toast. It adds a healthy balance of flavors and textures, and is a great way to start the day!
Maple Bacon: Maple bacon is the perfect salty and sweet accompaniment to French toast. It adds an extra layer of flavor and crunch to the dish, and is sure to delight any breakfast lover!
