  • If the sourdough bread is fresh, slice it into 1-2 day old pieces before using in the recipe.
  • If using challah bread, make sure it is 3/4 to 1-inch thick slices.

  • Substitute almond milk for the heavy cream – Almond milk is a great alternative for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan. The benefit of this substitution is that it adds a nutty flavor to the French toast, which pairs nicely with the sourdough or challah bread.
  • Substitute coconut oil for the butter – Coconut oil is a healthy alternative to butter, and it adds a subtle sweetness to the French toast. The benefit of this substitution is that it is a healthier option than butter and adds an extra layer of flavor to the dish.

Cinnamon French Toast Whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Dip the slices of bread in the egg mixture and proceed with the recipe as written.

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus: This delicious side dish pairs perfectly with the Sourdough French Toast. The savory bacon and asparagus provide a great contrast to the sweetness of the French toast, making for a truly satisfying meal.

Fried Potatoes: Fried potatoes are an excellent accompaniment to the Sourdough French Toast. The crunchy texture of the potatoes provides a great contrast to the soft French toast, while the flavor of the potatoes complements the sweetness of the toast. Plus, the potatoes are a great source of energy and nutrients, making them a great addition to any meal.
