French Onion Chicken Drumsticks

"I was looking for some slow cooker budget recipes to cook over winter and lock down, and found this old favorite from years back. I used to serve it with rice & vegies, but this time around I might just use a cauliflower mash instead of rice."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a small saucepan heat the oil and gently fry the onion until it is transparent (not golden) then remove saucepan from heat from & add the soy sauce, french onion soup mix, tomatoes, thyme and stock; Stir to combine ingredients.

Step 2

In the slow cooker place the drumsticks so that the heavy/large ends are all on the bottom.

Step 3

Pour over the sauce mix and gently move the drumsticks around until they are all coated with the mix.

Step 4

Cook in slow cooker on low for 8 hours.

Step 5

Serve with steamed veggies, mash and or rice.

This was good with noodles and peas. I think it would also be good using boneless chicken. Made as directed except I used 1 tsp dried thyme instead of fresh. Thanks for sharing!
